Manifest Spirit

Spirituality is not what we think about God or theology, it’s
participation. That’s all it is.
– Anne Wilson Schaef

I really loved this quote this morning.

I've been seeing a lot of posts about Law of Attraction lately where people want to know the magic formula to manifest a new job or a boyfriend/girlfriend or a new house, etc.

"What should I do if I want to manifest _____ ?"

And you can't give them the answers because even if you TRY to, they don't want to hear about having fun and enjoying life alone and BEing the change they want to see in the world.  They want you to give them a visualization, an affirmation, and tell them a whole bunch of things they've already heard and already know.

They want YOU to take care of the participation.

They want to put together "happy" like it's some kind of recipe from Better Homes and Gardens.  They don't want to grow in their consciousness, they want to remain IN the world while using power not OF the world to give them worldly happiness.

The Spirituality is missing from the Law of Attraction as it's presented in The Secret.

Spirituality isn't what you THINK about the higher power.  It isn't your theories on It or your ideas or words or belief, even.  Your Spirituality is your practiced connection TO It.

It's your participation in your coming to the realization that you ARE It.

If you want to manifest "X" then you have to do the work.  You have to bridge the gaps and experience the growth and shift the perception and create the magick.  You have to participate in your own enlightenment.

I know we live in a world where we are constantly striving for instant gratification, but I promise that if you take the time and dedicate your mind via intention, the rewards you will reap will so far outshine your original expectations.

Aye Aye Captain!

I’m not afraid of storms, for I’m learning to sail my ship.
– Louisa May Alcott

We have nothing to fear from the storms in life.

Storms appear to bring in tides that threaten to drown us. We must come to understand that the "bad" must exist in order for the good to come, and the good often comes in on the tides of the bad....

It is our job to learn how to navigate our minds through the water.  How to pick what we want to see out of the storm of what's possible.

The storm only exists if you sit in your boat, in the middle of it and contemplate the severity of it.

If you look out through the storm and keep your eye on the calm in the distance, the storm isn't a storm at all.  It's just a pulsing of energy around you that's pushing you toward wherever you're focus is leading!

May the Force be with You

Do or do not. There is no try.

– Yoda

This quote became very real for me when I quit smoking back in 2006.  I actually heard myself say I would TRY to quit smoking.

One cannot try to quit smoking.  Saying you will TRY to do something is already admitting defeat before you've started.

Try says it's going to be REALLY hard and you might not make it.  You might be unsuccessful.  You could fail.

I don't know about you, but for me... if I want it bad enough to bother with, I don't want to TRY... I want to DO, SEE, ENJOY, BECOME.... not try.  Seems like if you try, half your focus is on the failure.

Do or do not.... it's completely up to you... but there is no try.

Estatic Monotony

We should all do what, in the long run, gives us joy, even if it is only picking grapes or sorting the laundry.

– E.B. White

You are the only person who can determine the value in your actions.  Don't waste a moment doing anything you don't value.

That doesn't mean that you don't have to do the "mundane" things in life.  It means it's up to you to find the joy, because there IS joy there to be found.

You are the only measurer of your joy and success.  Whatever makes you feel joy filled and useful and worthwhile, do it.  Anyone that questions the validity of your actions does so only because they're missing  their own joy filled actions.

As Granted, Not For Granted

“The enlightened give thanks for what most people take for granted. As you begin to be grateful for what most people take for granted, that vibration of gratitude makes you more receptive to good in your life.”

- Dr. Michael Bernard Beckwith

With Thanksgiving (here in the states) coming tomorrow, it's not surprising I would be lead to a quote about gratitude this fine morning.  And this one is certainly not missing the point or lacking in depth.

I've never really thought of myself as "enlightened" because it's hard to imagine one's self that way without sounding pompous or arrogant.

I would, however, describe myself as filled with gratitude that is ever increasing.

The more you find to thank about, the more there IS to thank about.  The more you recognize gratitude, the more gratitude you have.  And the more gratitude you have, the more there is to be grateful for.  And the more there is to be grateful for, the more grateful you will be.  And the more grateful you are, the more you will notice all you have to be grateful for.

It's a never ending circle of love and gratitude.

And when you're in the habit of being grateful, you are more able to find gratitude for those people and situations you might have otherwise overlooked or taken for granted.

Why?

Because if you walk around your life LOOKING to be grateful, things that make you grateful are going to dominate your experience.

It can be no other way.  It is law.

Authentic Integrity

“You are in integrity when the life you are living on the outside matches who you are on the inside.”
- Alan Cohen

This is probably one of the greatest spiritual lessons.  Really amazing things happen when your insides and actions and words all line up.

Mountains move.

Especially when dealing with conscious manifestation.  When your insides don't line up with your outsides, nothing changes.  But when our thoughts and beliefs match our words and our actions, we are living authentically and honoring ourselves and honoring our Source, and from that place, creation takes form.

This is also why one should never measure their success against another's.

You cannot be living authentically when trying to be someone else.  You are you, and whomever you are is who you were designed to be.  Being YOU to the best of your ability, and being true to yourself always is how we truly touch that deepest part of ourselves where out divinity resides.

Tag, You're It

Start doing the things you think should be done, and start being what you think society should become. Do you believe in free speech? Then speak freely. Do you love the truth? Then tell it. Do you believe in an open society? Then act in the open. Do you believe in a decent and humane society? Then behave decently and humanely.

– Adam Michnik

I'm reminded of the Dalai Lama who said, "Be the change you want to see in the world."

When we decide to make a change, all that's required is that we actually CHANGE.

If you want to be a happier person, be happier.  If you want to get along with your family, get along.

Be that change.  Embrace the new that you seek and BE it.  Dress up like it and talk like it and act like it and you will become it.

The old ways can never stop being THE way unless you stop choosing the old way and begin choosing the new.  It's all up to you.

Deciding for Good

Most of our obstacles would melt away if, instead of cowering before them, we should make up our minds to walk boldly through them.

–Orison Swett Marden

I really love talking about will.  It reminds me of four and a half years ago when finally I gave up cigarettes.
I'd quit a few times before, but always ended up in a crisis within five to six months, and buying a new pack.

"Man, I REALLY need a cigarette!" was a phrase you would hear from my mouth a lot.

Then one day, I decided.

And it was different than the other times.  This time, when I began to entertain the comfort derived from a cigarette, I would tell the mental image to hit the road.

"Smoking is NOT an option."  That was my daily mantra for months, but I did it.  Smoking was NOT an option.  Period.

I had decided.  I didn't think so.  I didn't know I "should" quit.  I had decided that THIS is the way it's going to be, period.

That decision changed my life.  I gained 30 pounds that I'd lose a year later, but I didn't smoke.  I ate and walked and crafted and chatted and cleaned... but I never smoked again.

Then, in the following year, I used that same decision making method when I lost the weight.  Thirty pounds from quitting smoking and ten that were already padding my ass.  In seven months, I was down forty pounds and overALL, 28 inches.

I still have a little day to day trouble with little things.  Seems no matter how many times I try to set my mind to it, I can't quite keep my kitchen clean.  I guess it's just not that important to me (shrug*).

But if you want something... REALLY WANT IT... and decide.  Within that decision is everything to complete the desire.  You need only decide.  And I mean REALLY, honestly decide.

The rest is easy.

Another Day in Paradise

You cannot avoid paradise. You can only avoid seeing it.

Charlotte Joko Beck

We are born into paradise.  This planet is one of deep synchronicity, beauty, and balance.  Here we have everything we need to thrive.  The only thing that stops us from seeing the amazing Eden around us is our labels and expectations.

We spend every moment of our lives in the Now.  There IS no other time.

When we go into our minds, we leave Now.  Now is where the paradise is.
