A Piece of Peace

"Peace is not merely a distant goal we seek but a means by which we arrive at that goal."
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

We cannot have peace tomorrow.  If we choose peace, it's a choice made now.  Right now.

Choosing a peaceful life is something you choose to embrace "now," and then all actions and thoughts from that moment forward are based in the preservation of that chosen peace.

We can't decide we want peace, but we want it right after we show these people who's boss, or right after we get our way.  We can't bring peace by force.

Peace, in my opinion, isn't something that IS, it's the lack of something.  When you take away the disagreement and hatred and violence and force, you are left with a calm, acceptance called peace.

You are a Lover to be Loved

You believe that a lover will bring you love, but it is your love that will bring you a lover.
- Alan Cohen

Who doesn't want someone to love?

Although that's not REALLY the case.  People don't want someone to love.  People want someone to love THEM.

That's the real truth of the matter.  We want someone who does and says the right thing all the time and makes us feel special and worthy and loved.  In the face of such loving, we agree, in turn, to love them back.

However, if they fail to lift us up and "love" us the way we want, we will withhold our love from them and blame them for our bad feelings.

This is not love.

This is fear.

Fear of not being lovable.  Fear that I'm not worthy of the love that I seek.  Because I hate me.  I'm not beautiful enough or smart enough or worthy enough, so please, PLEASE love me so that I may feel loved, because without you, I am unloved, by even myself.

Have you ever loved someone, romantically or other, and all they ever did was put themselves down?  Talk about how unworthy they are.  Or pick out traits they have and question their validity or beauty or lovability.

No one wants to spend all their time trying convince someone of their own worthiness.  And when someone doesn't value themselves, it's glaringly obvious to anyone who is around them.

If you want to attract a lover, you must first be your own lover.

When you dress your body, do so kindly and lovingly.  When you speak of yourself, do so kindly and lovingly.  We are so kind and loving to so many that surround us, yet when it comes to ourselves we are brutally judgmental and mean.

If you believe that is what you deserve, even from yourself, then why would anyone ever treat you differently that that?

In order to cultivate loving relationships with other people, you have to have already cultivated a loving relationship with yourself.  You are, after all, an entire HALF of all future relationships.  How can a whole relationship be loving and healthy if only half is?  It's totally contradictory.

Lovers are attracted to lovers.

Go out and love.  Love your life and your family and your job and your car and your clothes and your body and yourself and and and and and.

LOVE IT ALL!

For when you do, the Universe cannot help but to love you in return.  Those who love are deeply attracted to those who love.

You are a lover to be loved, so love you!  The rest will fall into place.

Be the Difference

Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to one.
– Carl Jung

The greatest gift you can give someone is to listen to them.  Without judgment, in complete love and acceptance.

To allow someone to express themselves without fear of being judged or ridiculed is a divine act.

The holiday season is so sad for so many people, and everyone knows that suicide rates jump this time of year.

Having just ONE person expressing concern, and willing to listen can make the difference in someone's life.
You can be the difference.

Sweet Remembrances

Sow good services: sweet remembrances will grow from them.
– Madame de Stael

Kindness is the best service we can provide for others.  No matter what is happening around you, you always have a choice to react with your ego or to react with kindness.

Rarely are we remembered as we are.  More often we are remembered by our deeds.

Commit good deeds and kind services and you will be remembered for them.

People WANT to think good thoughts and feel good about you.  By acting from your true self, you give them plenty of evidence to associate with you.

But here's the Magick~ You will also remember your own kindness and that will bring you to think good thoughts and feel good things about YOURSELF.

One simple kindness can touch many.

Seeing

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.
– Marcel Proust

This reminds me of the old adage, "Wherever you go, there you are."

Changing your life isn't so much about changing the outward appearance of your life, but more about changing the way you see it.

You can see a lazy vagrant on the corner, or you can see a lost soul who's afraid and overwhelmed and who feels hopeless and alone.  Each sight elicits a completely different emotion.

You can see a disobedient, stubborn child in need of strict discipline, or you can see a child afraid of losing your affection or their own value who only needs love and reassurance.

A person can recreate their entire world without ever leaving their yard.  The value of your life isn't measured by what you see, it's measured by HOW you see it.

All Necessary

We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.
– Mother Teresa

I Love ANY quote that helps to embody the concept that, we are ALL individual and necessary.  No one is irrelevant or useless or not good enough or making no difference.

Everybody is part of the whole and necessary to the evolution of that whole.

Every person on the planet is irreplaceable and this world would not, nay- COULD NOT be the same had their presence not been known.

Leave the Past & Love the Future

Do not brood over your past mistakes and failures as this will only fill your mind with grief, regret, and depression. Do not repeat them in the future.
– Swami Sivananda

We've all made mistakes.  We've all acted in a way in which we are not proud.  We've all failed.

Dwelling in thoughts of past wrongs serves no purpose.  You will never feel bad enough to undo what's been done.

You can, however, identify the mistake and move forward focused on the solution.  Focused on the future.  Focused on replacing the grief of failure with rejoicing in success.

In Divine Timing

Consciousness is the ability to release the old and embrace the
new with the awareness that all things end at the appropriate
time and that all things begin at the appropriate time.
– Carolyn Myss

To everything... There is a season... And a time to every purpose under heaven.

I, personally, have gained the greatest and most profound peace in my life by coming to the realization that; Everything that happens is necessary to the evolution of ME and has a perfect time and a perfect divine purpose.

I know.  Sounds like a run-on bumper sticker, but it's my truth.

It's a concept you hear over and over and over.  Then one day you hear it again, and it just sinks deeper.

And you FEEL its depth.  And then you hear it over and over and over and it brings you much happiness because you believe you understand, until one day you hear it again and it just sinks DEEPER.

And it's depth is astounding.  And It is beautiful and perfect.

And now, I hear it over and over and over, and it is bringing me much happiness because I believe I understand.  But one of these days, I know it's going to sink even deeper and I'm sure I'll explode from the pleasure of It and just float away on a lavender breeze into infinity

Manifest Spirit

Spirituality is not what we think about God or theology, it’s
participation. That’s all it is.
– Anne Wilson Schaef

I really loved this quote this morning.

I've been seeing a lot of posts about Law of Attraction lately where people want to know the magic formula to manifest a new job or a boyfriend/girlfriend or a new house, etc.

"What should I do if I want to manifest _____ ?"

And you can't give them the answers because even if you TRY to, they don't want to hear about having fun and enjoying life alone and BEing the change they want to see in the world.  They want you to give them a visualization, an affirmation, and tell them a whole bunch of things they've already heard and already know.

They want YOU to take care of the participation.

They want to put together "happy" like it's some kind of recipe from Better Homes and Gardens.  They don't want to grow in their consciousness, they want to remain IN the world while using power not OF the world to give them worldly happiness.

The Spirituality is missing from the Law of Attraction as it's presented in The Secret.

Spirituality isn't what you THINK about the higher power.  It isn't your theories on It or your ideas or words or belief, even.  Your Spirituality is your practiced connection TO It.

It's your participation in your coming to the realization that you ARE It.

If you want to manifest "X" then you have to do the work.  You have to bridge the gaps and experience the growth and shift the perception and create the magick.  You have to participate in your own enlightenment.

I know we live in a world where we are constantly striving for instant gratification, but I promise that if you take the time and dedicate your mind via intention, the rewards you will reap will so far outshine your original expectations.
