Children

I need this reminder as we finish out our first month of summer vacation.
***

Your child is naturally joyful. Your child is naturally tuned in to Source Energy. And as he is diving through and digging through contrast, it is natural that there would be some things that might disconnect him. Just don't let his disconnection then inflame your disconnection. Many parents have discovered that their children, for the most part, feel good when they do — and the ornerier you are, usually the ornerier your children are. They are a strong reflection of the way you are feeling much of the time.

Presence

Ageless Body, Timeless Mind: The Quantum Alternative to Growing Old
By Deepak Chopra

Everything you think and feel reflects who you are. If you think and feel from a superficial level of awareness, that is who you are. To dive deeper into yourself and, hopefully, to get to that place where you are love, compassion, trust, and truth, you have to follow the path of your present responses.

Someone who feels unloved can still find love in its purest form, but he will have to work through the layers of resistance that block the feeling of pure love. Your present emotions reflect the present state of your nervous system with all its past imprints.

Whenever you have an experience, these imprints enter into your response, which means that most of your reactions are echoes from the past. You do not really live in the present.

However, at least you are reacting in the present, and that is where the search for your true self begins. Your emotions are the most present-centered thing you have. An emotion is a thought linked to a sensation. The thought is usually about the past or the future, but the sensation is in the present.

Your mind quickly links sensations with thoughts, but when we were infants, our first experience and emotions were much closer to physical sensations. We had no inhibitions or second thoughts about crying when we were wet, cold, lonely, frightened, etc. Our minds didn’t know those powerful words bad and no. Bad teaches you that certain thoughts are shameful; no teaches you to resist your own impulses.

More complex words and interpretations came later. As adults, when we deny ourselves the immediate experience of an emotion, a screen of words is out up by the mind, and this throws us out of the present and into either the past or the future. To feel an emotion fully and completely, to experience it and then release it, is to be in the present, the only moment that never ages.

Relax

“Don’t seek, don’t search, don’t ask, don’t knock, don’t demand – relax. If you relax, it comes. If you relax, it is there. If you relax, you start vibrating with it.”

Building from the End

"Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it."
- Charles Swindoll

This is my mantra today.  I'm having a little bit of trouble with my 90% of the deal.

But I know that when I'm in bed for the night, and I look back on this day that I'm about to embark on right now, I won't remember specific things that happened throughout the day.  Some, yes, but mostly not.

What I'll take with me was the overall tone that my day took on.  And the overall tone of my day will be determined by how I'm reacting, and the feelings and thoughts that I nurture throughout it.

I will move through my day nurturing good thoughts and blessing everyone around me.  I will share the best part of me because that's the part I want to remember when I contemplate my day, later.

There's something to be said for beginning a new day by contemplating how you want to feel about your day at the end of the day.

Close your eyes and imagine you're in bed for the night.  How do you want to feel?

I imagine being tired and near sleep as soon as I lay down.  It's been a fantastic and productive day for me, and I'm rightfully tired.  I drift off to sleep sending blessings out to all my loved ones, smiling happily to myself.

Now, off I go to shape my day into whatever will make me feel like that later.  I will hold my tongue, and just go where the Spirit moves me.

Be Angry!

"You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger."
- Buddha

This reminds me of another saying... Resentment (or anger?) is like swallowing poison to kill your enemy.

Anger isn't an unhealthy emotion.  So many on the path to enlightenment or who are working with the "Law of Attraction" fear being angry, worried that they will simply bring more negativity to themselves.  This is just untrue.

Now, don't get me wrong, if you skulk around all the time, pissed off at the world, then yes, you're going to attract negativity to you.  In a case such as this, anger is less an emotion and more a state of mind.

Anger as an emotion is not only harmless to your conscious creation, but sometimes essential.  Anger ignites fire within us.  Anger sets us in motion.  When anger doesn't set us in motion, then it becomes a state of mind.  When you're overcome with such a strong emotion, you need to act.

The Universe will not "punish" you for feeling anger... for being passionate enough about something to feel angry at the state of things.  But if you do nothing, and just hold onto that anger, the anger itself will punish you through the all consuming thoughts and feelings you will end up if you don't release it.

So BE angry!  If you see injustice, get pissed!  Ignite change!  Create passion!  Just remember that anger is the beginning.  When anger is the end, then you are punishing yourself.

A Good Morning to You

"Every morning when we wake up, we have a choice to either open to a potential miracle and celebrate it, or to choose complaint and control."
- Deepak Chopra

I also recently heard Joel Osteen talking about how every morning is a gift of joy from God just waiting for us to open and unfold in it.  And it's up to us to accept the gift of joy we're given each day.

One of my very first observances in the morning upon waking is how cozy and warm I am in my bed.  That simple observation of pleasure makes me smile and sets the stage for my entire morning.

You are a Lover to be Loved

You believe that a lover will bring you love, but it is your love that will bring you a lover.
- Alan Cohen

Who doesn't want someone to love?

Although that's not REALLY the case.  People don't want someone to love.  People want someone to love THEM.

That's the real truth of the matter.  We want someone who does and says the right thing all the time and makes us feel special and worthy and loved.  In the face of such loving, we agree, in turn, to love them back.

However, if they fail to lift us up and "love" us the way we want, we will withhold our love from them and blame them for our bad feelings.

This is not love.

This is fear.

Fear of not being lovable.  Fear that I'm not worthy of the love that I seek.  Because I hate me.  I'm not beautiful enough or smart enough or worthy enough, so please, PLEASE love me so that I may feel loved, because without you, I am unloved, by even myself.

Have you ever loved someone, romantically or other, and all they ever did was put themselves down?  Talk about how unworthy they are.  Or pick out traits they have and question their validity or beauty or lovability.

No one wants to spend all their time trying convince someone of their own worthiness.  And when someone doesn't value themselves, it's glaringly obvious to anyone who is around them.

If you want to attract a lover, you must first be your own lover.

When you dress your body, do so kindly and lovingly.  When you speak of yourself, do so kindly and lovingly.  We are so kind and loving to so many that surround us, yet when it comes to ourselves we are brutally judgmental and mean.

If you believe that is what you deserve, even from yourself, then why would anyone ever treat you differently that that?

In order to cultivate loving relationships with other people, you have to have already cultivated a loving relationship with yourself.  You are, after all, an entire HALF of all future relationships.  How can a whole relationship be loving and healthy if only half is?  It's totally contradictory.

Lovers are attracted to lovers.

Go out and love.  Love your life and your family and your job and your car and your clothes and your body and yourself and and and and and.

LOVE IT ALL!

For when you do, the Universe cannot help but to love you in return.  Those who love are deeply attracted to those who love.

You are a lover to be loved, so love you!  The rest will fall into place.

Intending Unseen Miracles

When you embrace uncertainty and include intention and detachment,
then the most improbable happens. That’s what we call a miracle.
– Deepak Chopra

Embrace uncertainty.  Knowing that even though you don't know what's going to happen, you can handle it and it's going to lead you somewhere great.

Include intention.  Knowing what you want to get out of the situation personally, no matter how it presents itself.

Detachment.  Being open to any way that God presents your intention in manifested form.  Not putting limits on the Universe because you believe things have to look or appear in a specific way.

All these things leave possibility WIDE open for us, and God creates miracles in ways we never would have imagined.  When you don't put limitations on yourself or God, the world, in its entirety, is at your complete disposal.

Fear not the unknown.  It is only opportunity waiting for you to allow it to unfold.

To Create, Not Change What's Wrong

In struggling against anguish one never produces serenity; the struggle against anguish only produces new forms of anguish.
– Simone Weil

This reminds me of Mother Teresa who declined to join a march against war stating that if they organized a march FOR PEACE, she'd be there.

We cannot make "bad" things stop or go away.  We CAN, however, make "good" things start or come closer.

This is a Universe of inclusion.  That means that all things are included.  If you're focused upon it, it will expand.

So, don't go out your door determined to STOP WAR.  Go out your door intending to bring peace.

Don't try to STOP DISEASE.  Instead, bring health.

Our life here is about creation.  We are creators.  It's what we do.

Now, knowing this, I want you to try to create "stop," or "don't," or "no."  You can't do it.  You simply cannot create those things.  What you will create is whatever subject comes after those words.

You will never create "stop hurting me" but you CAN create "love me."

The next time you feel like something's just not going the way you want it to, stop and consider what you want to create.  Not what IS or what shouldn't be or what you wish wasn't.... What do you WANT.

And then, for me at least (because I'm ALL about the higher power working through you), I ask for help from God.

God, please help me bring ____ into my life for the highest good of All.  Help me be this change and create joy and peace with it.  Thank you for all the wonderful blessings in my life.  I am eternally grateful and in love with it all.  Amen.

Don't ever pray; God, please make this stop.  God please take this away.  God please change what's wrong.
God wants to know what's RIGHT and what's GOOD and where your GRATITUDE is.  Whatever you're praying is assumed to be all those things.

Don't tell God his creations are wrong or unworthy or hated.  Just pour your blessings upon what is RIGHT and WONDERFUL, even if you can't see it all right now.
